Under New Policy, PPD Releases Names Of 2 Officers Involved In Shooting
By Kristen Johanson
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - This week, Commissioner Charles Ramsey said the Philadelphia Police Department will release the names of any police officer involved in a shooting. On Friday, they did just that.
The Department named two officers they say are under investigation for shooting at a suspect this past May. They say the suspect, 47-year-old Rudolph Keitt, drove his car into several vehicles and injured four officers.
The two officers -- eight-year-veteran Michael Minor and nine-year veteran Robert Hoppe -- are under investigation for shooting and injuring Keitt. Both officers have been placed on administrative duty.
The new policy comes after recommendations were made by the Presidential Task Force, lead by Ramsey. The FOP plans to try to overturn the new policy.
Keitt has been charged with attempted murder and related charges.
