UArts Students Put Spotlight On School's Annual Fundraiser With Pop-Up Performance

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Lunch-time patrons at a popular center city food court were treated today to a pop-up performance by students from the University of the Arts.
They assembled quietly but quickly at the food court in the Bellevue Hotel: first, drummers who beat on buckets, who were then joined by male and female dancers who swayed and swirled and glided between the tables in the food court.
The dancers' performance and the sounds of the bucket-drum ensemble, known as "Rumble," were part of an arts awareness program being promoted by the University of the Arts.
Paul Healy, a university spokesman, says the surprise appearance also was calculated to tie in to a fundraising effort by the school: "Art Unleashed, which is our annual art exhibition and sale. It's the biggest fundraiser for scholarships that we have, and the students have been doing pop-up performances around the city."
And, as quickly as they stepped into the limelight, the students dispersed and headed back to school.
