U.S. Census Bureau Makes Predictions For 2014
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – On the last day of 2013, the U.S. Census Bureau is making a prediction for the start of the New Year.
According to the Bureau, the population of the United States is expected to be 317,297,938 on Jan. 1, 2014, up 0.7 percent from New Year's Day 2013.
Meanwhile, the world's population is projected at 7,137,577,750, a 1.1 percent increase from last year. India, which led the world's countries for population increase, added 15.6 million people over the last year. China, Nigeria, Pakistan and Ethiopia rounded out the top five.
Closer to home, the Census Bureau says it expects one birth to occur every 8 seconds and one death every 12 seconds in the United States.
