2 Teens Dead Following Accident On Route 100 In Chester County
EXTON, Pa. (CBS) — Two teenagers are dead after a minivan and a pick-up truck collided Saturday night on Route 100 in Chester County.
The accident occurred around 7 p.m. near North Ship Road in the northbound lanes.
The victims were pronounced dead on the scene. They have been identified as siblings Miles and Charlotte Hannagan.
According to authorities, the victims were ejected from the minivan. Four adults, including the victim's mother and father, were taken to an are hospital with injuries.
The driver of the pickup truck, identified as 25-year-old Thomas Muir, has been charged with two counts of homicide while driving under the influence and related offences. A $75,000 cash bail has been set and preliminary hearing has been scheduled for February 24th.
Downingtown Area School District, where Charlotte was a student, relased the following statement Sunday:
"We learned on Sunday morning that one of our students, Charlotte Hannagan, a DHS West junior, and her brother Miles, a DHS West graduate, died from injuries suffered in a car accident on Saturday evening. Words cannot express the sadness that our school community is feeling at this time. Our sincere condolences, thoughts and prayers go out to the Hannagan friends and family who are dealing with this horrific tragedy. DHS West will have grief counselors and support available for any student needing assistance in the days ahead."
The northbound lanes of Route 100 were closed between North Ship Road and Shoen Road as authorities investigated the accident.
