Two Suspects In 2013 Murder Of College Basketball Player Plead Guilty

By Cherri Gregg

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Two suspects involved in the November 2013 murder of former Community College of Philadelphia basketball player in North Philadelphia pleaded guilty to murder this week.

As KYW Community Affairs reporter Cherri Gregg tells us for the family of victim the battle is not over.

"In the month of November I celebrate his birth and I celebrate his death," said Kasey Fisher.

Kasey Fisher still gets emotional when talking about her son Micah. The former Community College of Philadelphia basketball player had just celebrated his 26th birthday that November morning and was asleep at a friend's house near Broad and Colwyn. He awoke to gunshots when a landlord tenant dispute involving multiple people turned violent, and Micah, thinking the coast was clear, was gunned down.

"My son's last words were please don't let me die," said Fisher.

An innocent bystander at the wrong place at the wrong time.

"The gun violence must stop," said Fisher.

Seventeen months later Brittany Young pleaded guilty to third degree murder Monday and Shawn Allen took a plea Tuesday, and now his family is hoping the public will help police identify the others involved in the shooting.

"Because we lost a gem we lost a gem."

Micah Fisher's number was 11. The Community College of Philadelphia honored the player by retiring that number after his death.
