Two More Camden Diocese Churches To Merge
CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) — Two more Roman Catholic churches in the Camden Diocese will soon be consolidated into a new parish that will serve about 2,200 members.
The latest merger, which takes effect Dec. 14, involves churches in Cape May County.
Bishop Joseph Galante says the St. Maximilian Kolbe parish will be formed by merging the Church of the Resurrection in Upper Township with St. Casimir in Woodbine and its mission, St. Elizabeth in Middle Township.
Church of the Resurrection will be the parish seat, while St. Casimir and St. Elizabeth will remain open as worship sites.
The consolidation is the latest in a series of mergers in a diocesan-wide reconfiguration meant to strengthen parishes and improve pastoral care to members. Galante has now issued 39 merger decrees since June 2009.
