Two Men Shot During Basketball Game In Darby Township
DARBY TOWNSHIP, Pa (CBS) -- Darby Township police were looking for two gunmen who fired over ten shots during a basketball game at Conway park in Darby Township around 5 p.m. on Sunday.
According to police, two men in their 20s were hit in the back. Both were being treated at the University of the Hospital of Pennsylvania. Police said one was critical. The other had non-life threatening injuries.
People scattered from the scene as shots rang out. Police believed the gunman were in a group of spectators where an argument started with people on the court.
Initial ballistics evidence pointed to a 40 caliber weapon.
Township Commissioners had enacted an emergency 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew similar to one being used in nearby Darby Borough to quell the violence.
The curfew applied to all residents with violators subject to a $500 citation.
Police said they were not getting cooperation from people who were at the scene. They had interviewed fewer than ten people and believed there were over 25 people there.
