Two Bodies Recovered Along Jersey Shore
OCEAN COUNTY, N.J. - New Jersey State police say troopers have located and recovered the bodies of two individuals Thursday along the Jersey Shore.
Police say they were called to the beaches off of Asbury Park and Seaside Park on Wednesday after receiving reports that two swimmers went missing.
Troopers from the Point Pleasant Marine Station reportedly located the first victim around 10 a.m. Thursday off the surf in Asbury Park in approximately 15 feet of water.
Once located, police say the body was recovered by the Asbury Park Fire Department and transported by state police to the U.S. Coast Guard Shark River Station.
The body of the second victim was reportedly located a few hours later by the same troopers, in approximately 18 feet of water in the surf off Seaside Park.
Police say State Police T.E.A.M.S. divers recovered the second victim and turned him over to the Medical Examiner at the Coast Guard station.
According to police, positive identification of the victims is pending an examination by the Ocean County Medical Examiner's Office as well as the detectives investigating the case.
