Twitter Adds Layer Of Security To Accounts Amid High-Profile Attacks

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Amid some high-profile hacks, Twitter has added an optional layer of security to your account.
Two-factor authentication keeps your cell phone standing guard. After you sign up, you'll get a text with a different six-digit code every time you try to sign in to Twitter.com. The company says your existing apps will work without disruption.
Using that code along with a strong password should help prevent hacked accounts - such as when the AP's was used to Tweet false news about an attack on the White House.
To turn it on, go to account settings, down to security, and tick the box 'require verification code when I log in.' Twitter will make you link a cell phone and sends a test text, and then a code every time you try to sign on.
