Tuition Program Brings In Big Bucks For Haddonfield School District

HADDONFIELD, N.J. (CBS) - The Haddonfield School District has discovered that a plan to expand its student tuition program has become a lucrative source of funding.
There is no shortage of high-performing, out-of-district students clamoring to enroll in the prestigious Haddonfield School District, says superintendent Richard Perry.
"Right now our freshman class has a waiting list of tuition students to get into it. We have some room in the upper classes but we are also at capacity at those grade levels as well."
The price tag is $10,000 for the middle school and $11,000 for the high school.
"We recieve close to $350,000 every year in revenue just from our tuition program."
Perry says the School Board created the tuition program out of necessity.
"About 3 years ago Haddonfield School District received no state aid. So it was at that time that the School Board decided to reach and create a revenue source outside of state revenue."
There are 38 tuition-paying students in Haddonfield this fall, that's up from 22 in 2011.
