Tropical Storm Isaac Sets Back The Republican National Convention By One Day

By Special Contributor Larry Kane

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – In Tampa, the storm is causing a scheduling mess for the Republican National Convention.

With expected wind gusts of 60 miles per hour on Monday, the GOP says it's a no-go until sometime Tuesday.

How the prime time show is recreated is a question mark, but old pros like the man who ran the Republican Party in Delaware County for 35 years, Tom Judge, says he's been there before. He says the political spirit is very much alive.

The biggest question - can all the delegates, who have not arrived from the Delaware Valley region, even get there in time to beat the storm and make it in time for Tuesday.

The biggest buzz of the pre-convention is the tightening polls and Romney's joke about the birthing controversy.

The convention will be gaveled to order in an empty arena Monday then recessed until Tuesday. Another question that remains - how will the party compensate for the loss of a big Monday night broadcast audience.

For now, it's a holding pattern for more delegate arrivals and the rain and wind.
