The online scientist says you can cool the car faster by opening a window on one side, then opening and closing the door on the other side five times to force the hot air out.

So, what's the best way to cool off the inside of your hot car?

We took our thermometer to a parking lot in Cherry Hill, NJ, where Dave Hardy (right), accompanied by his granddaughter Kaprii Walls, agreed to put the theory to the test.

"We're reading 160 right now..."

After opening and closing the door five times -- and working up a sweat in the process -- Dave's car cooled down a mere four degrees.

Does this change his car-cooling strategy from now on?

"No, it doesn't.   I'm still going to crank up the AC as fast as I can," he told KYW Newsradio.
