Trio Of Baby Red-Tailed Hawks Now Nest At Franklin Institute

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- There's a trio of babies in the Red-tailed Hawk nest at the Franklin Institute. The last egg hatched Monday morning.
The hatchlings won't win any beauty contests. Franklin Institute President Dennis Wint describes the bobble-headed babies as looking like hairy ping pong balls:
"They've got these little heads that are furry with big eyes and big beaks. Their extremities like their feet are way out of scale with the size of the body -- they sort of grow into that. They're not what one might consider as cute, but they are loveable, let's put it that way."

What's the appeal of watching the hawk family grow?
"It's being able to see this development that's very close up, watching nature at its best."
You'll have plenty of time to watch the hatchlings develop, before they fledge in about 48 days.
