Trial To Begin For Man Accused Of Killing Officer
GEORGETOWN, Del. (AP) - The trial of a man accused of killing a Georgetown police officer in 2009 is set to begin.
Twenty-three-year-old Derrick Powell is charged with first-degree murder in the September 2009 shooting of police officer Chad Spicer. The Attorney General's office has said it will seek the death penalty.
Jury selection is scheduled for Monday at 9 a.m. at Sussex County Superior Court. Powell has been held at the Vaughn Correctional Center in Smyrna, where he has been working with public defenders on his defense.
