Trial Begins For Accused Delaware Pediatrician
GEORGETOWN, Del. (AP) -- The trial of a former Delaware pediatrician charged with sexually abusing scores of patients over more than a decade is under way.
Earl Bradley appeared in the courtroom Tuesday wearing a grey prison jumpsuit and white sneakers. Bradley waived his right to a jury trial after a judge denied a motion to suppress what prosecutors say are graphic homemade videos of Bradley abusing children.
Bradley is charged with 24 counts of rape, assault and sexual exploitation of a child. Lawyers agreed to consolidate the 470 counts in the original indictment.
Bradley's fate is being decided by Judge William Carpenter Jr. The judge plans to keep a gag order restricting attorneys from talking about the case until a sentencing if Bradley is found guilty.
