Trial Ordered For Florida Man In Bizarre Main Line Kidnap Case

RADNOR, Pa. (CBS) -- A 76-year-old Florida man has been ordered held for trial in Delaware County, Pa. in connection with a bizarre kidnapping plot late last year on the Main Line.
John Felder waived his preliminary hearing today on a host of charges including attempted kidnapping, reckless endangerment, possession of a weapon, and simple assault. Prosecutors agreed to drop a felony charge of aggravated assault.
Felder is accused of targeting an heir to the McNeil pharmaceuticals fortune last November. Police say he arrived at the victim's Villanova home posing as a flower delivery man, and fired a taser.
"They've increased security around his house and the houses of his other family members," says attorney Art Donato, who represents the victim. "This is obviously a traumatic event in his life, but I think, all in all, he's doing fine."
Police believe Felder's plan was to hold the kidnapped person for ransom. Police say he found his intended targets on the Internet, and even had a list of names in his possession when he was arrested (see related story).
Defense attorney Joseph Green says they are looking forward to their opportunity to address the issues in court.
