Tree Falls On Monkey House At Zoo In Delaware
WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) – Authorities say a large tree fell on top of a building at a Delaware zoo, destroying its roof.
The incident occurred around 2 p.m. Friday at the Brandywine Zoo, located at 1001 N. Park Drive in Wilmington.
According to authorities, the tree fell on top of the zoo's Monkey House, destroying the roof and causing one wall to buckle.
Officials say no humans or animals were injured as a result of the downed tree, but three monkeys have been placed under veterinary observation as a precaution.
Authorities confirm that the monkeys will be transferred to zoos in Pennsylvania and New Jersey as part of a cooperative agreement with the American Zoo and Aquarium Association.
State officials say the zoo will be closed Saturday.
City officials are on scene to check the safeness of the structure.
