Treating Morning Sickness
By Dr. Brian McDonough, Medical Editor
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It is estimated that 75% of women experience morning sickness at some time during their pregnancy. So, what are the best options for treatment?
Let me start by saying that I dont want to talk about some of the medications that we prescribe because we have to be very concerned about anything a woman takes into her system when she is pregnant because it can effect the development of the unborn baby.
That being said..what works?
Well, believe it or not some of the things our grandmothers suggested seem to work best. I am talking about crackers, soup broth and fluids.
Now this doesn't mean they are the only options - there are probably as many options as women who have gone through pregnancy because individuals have different remedies.
I will tell you that the keys are getting plenty of fluid and knowing that if you have any concerns about prolonged illness or vomiting you should check with your doctor.
