Trade Group Forecasts Increase In Holiday Shopping

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - According to the National Retail Federation, spending is expected to increase this year during the holiday shopping season compared to last year.
Folks say they're feeling better this year about their finances than a year ago.
(Woman): "Things are looking better, so I can see people definitely spending more money."
(Man): "Yes, we are going to be spending a little money."
(Woman): "I know I'm going to spend money! I don't know about anybody else, but I know I'm going to spend my money."
According to the trade group, based in Washington D.C., holiday sales are expected to jump, with consumers projected to spend at least 4 percent more during the holiday seasons than last year.
Kuznits: "Is the holiday shopping on your mind?"
(Woman): "It is! It wasn't until probably November came around and then I was thinking oh my goodness, December 25th's coming really soon!"
This woman tells me last year she was thrifty because she didn't have a job. That's not the case this year.
"Sales and everything, it's just going to be crazy!"
Kuznits: "You're getting ready!"
(Woman): "Yes, excited!"
