Malvern Man Killed In Fiery Tractor-Trailer Crash On Route 202
WEST CHESTER, Pa. (CBS) -- Officials have identified the man killed in the crash that shut down Route 202 in Chester County for more than 12 hours.
Police report 38-year-old Adam Swope of Malvern was killed when his car was struck by a northbound tractor trailer that had overturned and slid into the southbound lanes
The accident happened shortly after noon Saturday at Matlack Street in West Goshen Township.
Swope served as chair of the Willistown-Malvern Democrats, as well as executive assistant to Chester County Commissioner Kathi Cozzone.
Dick Bingham of The Chester County Democratic Committee issued the following statement Sunday afternoon:
"I am extremely saddened to report that Adam Swope, Zone Leader, Zone 16, died yesterday in a tragic automobile accident. Few details are available at this time but I am sure I speak for us all when I say how shocking and devastating this news is. Adam will be truly missed by us all."
All lanes in both directions were shut down through the early hours of Sunday morning as a result of the crash.
Several others were hurt in the crash, but those injuries were not considered life-threatening.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
