Toy Store Thefts Caught On Tape Leave Owner Frustrated
OAKLYN, NJ (CBS) -- Six burglaries at the House of Fun toy store in Oaklyn, New Jersey have frustrated the toy store owner, who says he feels numb and powerless to stop it.
"It's been over a thousand dollars," says Chris Consalvi.
Consalvi has been in the business for six years, and at the end of February and beginning of March, thought he had miscounted his register. Then he checked his surveillance system and saw two different burglars prowling through his store and heading right to his register.
"He's wearing two shirts, jeans, white sneakers and a hat with duct tape", says Consalvi.
One person also has stockings covering his face. The other wears a hooded sweatshirt.
Consalvi has improved locks on his doors but believes the burglars were entering through an unoccupied business next to his and coming in through a hole in an adjoining basement wall.
"It's very strange," says Oaklyn Police Chief Jon Shelly. Police are now monitoring the store.
