On November 11, 2015, the National Constitution Center is holding a flag raising ceremony at 9:15 on Veterans Day on the front lawn. This event will be hosted by the Sons of the American Revolution. There will also be a wreath laying ceremony at 11 a.m. as well as plenty of options for children and families including an arts and crafts table and thank a vet postcard making. The Center will also offer additional programs and workshops about Veterans Day including flag and military etiquette. Admission to the Constitution Center for a single day admission is $14 for adults, and admission for children is $8.

If you prefer to just be out in the fresh air and take in some history, you can tour many of the great historical places that Philadelphia has to offer with the Constitutional Walking Tour. This tour takes visitors to over 20 different locations including the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. The tour takes about 75 minutes. It is just less than 2 miles in length. This 3D film, which you will become a part of, is hosted by the one and only Ben Franklin. The Lights of Liberty is a 15 minute film that will answer questions such as "Why is the liberty bell important?" and will give its opinions on what makes America special. The interactive film will also touch upon military history which will add to your Veterans Day experience. You can find a show every 20 minutes from 10-6 and 11-5 on Sundays. They also have a gift shop with books and other patriotic paraphernalia. The price for adults is $6.00, and children and students pay $5.00. You can also get a family four pack for $20.00.

The African American Museum was founded in 1976 and is full of stories of hope, overcoming adversity and our sometimes overlooked veterans. During November, there will also be two special exhibitions available: Africans in India and Soulful Stitching. There are also a few more special tours, workshops and collections available to view. This museum is committed to showcasing the work and achievements of African Americans, specifically from the Philadelphia area. Admission for adults is $14, and all others are $10. The museum is open from 10-5, Thursday through Saturday, and 12-5 on Sunday.
