The Shanghai Quartet was formed at the Shanghai Conservatory in 1983. The quartet is now one of the world's preeminent chamber ensembles. It has toured the major music centers of the world, from the Beijing International Music Festival to Lincoln Center. Pianist Peter Serkin entered the world-renowned Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia at age 11. Aside from solo performances and orchestra collaborations at Carnegie Hall, he has collaborated with the best—Yo-Yo Ma, Alexander Schneider and Pamela Frank, to name a few. The combination of the Shanghai Quartet and pianist Peter Serkin will be something to behold.

Colin Carr is a British cellist who has played across the world as both a soloist and chamber musician. He has toured and recorded for 20 years. Carr has won many international awards, and his recordings of the cello works of Britten, Crumb and Schuller as well as his Bach Suites are spectacular. He has been touring with duo partner Thomas Sauer, a pianist, throughout the United States and Europe. Sauer frequently collaborates with world-renowned instrumentalists Midori as well as Colin Carr. These two are a duo not to be missed.

He has a broad repertoire and has appeared as a soloist with numerous major orchestras including the Philadelphia Orchestra, the London Philharmonia and the Atlanta Symphony. Denk has both a "master's degree in music from Indiana University as well as a doctorate in piano performance from the Juilliard School where he worked with Herbert Stessin."
