Top Skateboarding Shops In Philadelphia
Philadelphia is a destination for more than just American history. It's also a haven for skateboarders from all over the world. The city features some choice skateboard parks and spots all over downtown. Check out Granahan Skatepark on Callowhill Street and internationally recognized Love Park directly across from City Hall, or venture out to the informal skateboard race known as "The Bomb" each May, which runs from Lemon Hill along Boathouse Row all the way to FDR Park. With all of this skateboard action, naturally, the Philadelphia area boasts more than a few great skate shops.

In 2000, Philadelphia was home to the first X Games, which featured skateboard gold medalist Kerry Getz. Getz went on to found Nocturnal Skate Shop, which provides the world's top boards, shoes, clothes, tracks and wheels. Nocturnal's skate team features local legends Angel Acevedo and Jamal Smith.

29 Degrees Skateboard shop believes that to truly experience the store you need to see it in person. It's actually located north of the city of Philadelphia in Newtown, but this one is completely worth the drive. Shop owner Andrew Brady stocks world-famous skateboards ranging from Alien Workshop to Girl. It also places safety first and features regulation protective gear, clothing and a full service tuning and repair shop.

Exit Philadelphia is actually far more than a skateboard shop. It's also home to arts and musical entertainment, presenting skateboarding as just one aspect of holistic creative expression. Exit, located in Northern Liberties, is the brainchild of local skateboarding legend Steve Miller. The skateboard shop features top boards and accessories but also serves as a venue for events, exhibits and competitions.

Method Board Shop sits just outside of Philadelphia in Montgomery County. Owner Mark Ruggiano works to make the shop a part of the local community and provides personalized service to each customer. Method Skate runs skateboard trips, barbecues and skateboard lessons for boarders of all skill levels. Method also hosts skate jams, at which contestants compete in the game of skate. Method Skate has another mom-and-pop skateboard shop in Sea Isle, NJ.

Fairman's Skate Shop is located on the corner of North Church in the heart of historic downtown West Chester. Established back in the 1970s, it's one of the nation's oldest skate shops and is still family owned and operated as a core skateboarding shop. Fairman's offers sponsorships to local skateboarders and hosts summer skateboarding training day camps and team rider clinics. Its store features a full line of boards, clothes, gear and Andrew Cannon-endorsed merchandise.
