Top Dance Studios In Philadelphia

While you may not have pursued your dreams to become a professional dancer, your guilty pleasure is still "Dancing with the Stars" and you frequently dream about becoming a contestant on "So You Think You Can Dance?" Since it's probably been a couple years since you were a dancing sensation (if ever), finding a place to take a couple of refresher lessons might come in handy. For those who have never set foot on a dance floor in their lives, dancing lessons will give you the confidence to start. Either way, follow your passion to one of these dance studios in Philadelphia.

Price: Starting at $150 for 10 classes

With two convenient locations in both Manayunk and Center City, the Society Hill Dance Academy offers a solid option for anyone who wanted to learn the ropes of ballroom dancing but never had the time, money or Latin family member. The open lessons option allows flexibility and minimal commitment, since you can pick what class, time and level you would like to participate in. With classes for both beginners and advanced dancers, you can start off with Salsa 101 and progress right up to the Foxtrot. The class cards that allow you entrance to open classes are not person-specific, so you can even go in on the class fees with a friend.

Doubling as a fitness center, Studio 1831 offers some scintillating options with dance fitness and belly dancing classes that will give you an entirely different view of dancing. Learn the art of belly dancing at your leisure or channel your inner Christina Aguilera with the burlesque dance class offered. Don't worry about signing up because the studio welcomes walk-ins and advance signup is not necessary. In addition to dance classes, there is also yoga, kickboxing and other fitness classes available.

Price: Starting at $17 for a single class, 10-class cards at $150

For those who are serious about rekindling their love affair with dancing, this studio offers more than 35 classes for adults at all levels. Ballet, tap, modern, jazz and hip-hop are all on the menu at Koresh, but the teachers take their jobs seriously so be ready to learn. Like the other options, Koresh has an open-class system that allows you to join when you want to, show up when you feel like it and come as often as you can. Beware starting a class card then slacking off for half a year, however, because the class cards expire within three months.

Price: $12 per class or $25 for three

Part of a growing movement to let ladies unleash their inner dancer and get quite a workout at the same time, this studio specializes in teaching pole dancing to beginners and more experienced attendees. However, only attempt to join in if you're a woman, because this dance studio has a no-men-allowed policy. The classes are priced reasonably and if you are looking for a different experience in the dance world, this a great place to start. It will even help you develop the muscles that enable you to reenact Cirque Du Soliel moves.

Price: 6 classes for $75, discounted packages available

If you've ever seen the movie "Take the Lead," you know where dance lessons here can land you—a dance-off. With an emphasis on ballroom dancing and Latin dance forms, this studio offers classes that you can start at any time and any level. The group salsa lessons are on Thursdays and promise to teach you salsa in six weeks or less. As an added bonus, Take the Lead hosts a salsa party twice a month that is BYOB and $10 for a beginner salsa lesson and a night of dancing.
