Line Dancing Tuesdays and Thursdays
If you're looking for a wise old cowboy to teach you the ways of the West, or at least how to line dance, this West Chester staple should be your destination. As soon as the glowing neon cowboy hat signage comes into view, it's clear that this joint is decades full of country, with a touch of tackiness and more than a little local history. Learn to line dance on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting with a lesson at 8 p.m. and dancing until 11 p.m. Wednesdays feature some lively karaoke from 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., but weekends are the rowdiest, with a surprisingly busy live country music schedule. Get in touch with your inner cowboy before going, because after a visit to the Brickette Lounge, you'll know exactly what kind of "Low Places" Garth Brooks was singing about.

At Prospector's Steakhouse & Saloon, you're guaranteed a country Western experience from the menu to the music. Just about every week, there are line-dancing lessons available Wednesday through Sunday nights for everyone from rubes who don't know how to keep up to experts who want to impress the crowd on the dance floor. There's even an all-ages dance party on Sundays. While the hearty food and décor here might remind you of Texas, the country music and lively dancing are what really make traveling 20 minutes to Jersey worthwhile for fans of the West.

If you always wanted to learn how to two-step, check out the Country Line Dancing and Two-Steppin' night at Woody's on Friday evenings. For those not ready to hit up a grittier cowboy bar to learn, this urbanized event hosted by local DJs is another option. Swallow a little liquid courage then join in the free lesson before the dance floor really heats up. It's early enough that there's no cover, and you can even stay for the non-country dance party that takes over at 11 p.m. Either way, you can be assured that you're at the only gay bar in Philadelphia that offers the chance to line dance.

Because the shortage of bulls to ride in Philadelphia was posing a serious threat to Philly's street cred, Johnny Utah's opened last spring to keep up the city's rep. In addition to mechanical bull riding, the country bar draws a crowd with nightly drink specials, like the $10 domestic beer tower on Thursdays, $3 Coronas on Daisy Duke Fridays and $10 or $14 pitchers-and-wings combos for "Yuengs and Wings" on Wednesdays. If drink specials and "sexy bull riding" contests aren't enough to bring you out, maybe the events and celebrity guests, like the world famous "Naked Cowboy," will. With country, rock or party music pumping when there isn't a concert going on, all you need to do is grab a themed drink like the "Electric Cowboy" or "Bikini Bull Rider" to get the night started. Since there are 25 plasma TVs and projection screens, you won't even have to miss the game for your country rock experience.

This Western-themed bar is home to the second of Philadelphia's two mechanical bulls, which sees plenty of action nightly. PBR Bar & Grille is an excellent spot to watch your favorite Philly's sports team. Self-described as "country cool meets urban chic," this joints serves Tex-Mex cuisine by day and a mean country and Southern rock party when the sun goes down. Beer is a reasonable $5, and daily drink specials can get you that Miller Lite for as little as $2 and well drinks for just $3. So while this city slickers' gem shares its name with Philadelphia's favorite cheap beer, the similarities stop there--PBR stands for Professional Bull Riders, and this bar isn't afraid to prove it by bringing the pros out for a meet-and-greet.
