Top Bakeries In Philadelphia For Passover Desserts
Since many traditional recipes use flour, Passover desserts can be a bit tricky. Give yourself a break (and avoid a possible kitchen disaster) by leaving desserts to the pros. These Philadelphia-area bakeries offer a wide selection of treats made with Passover in mind. Choose from delicious options like macaroons, honey loaf, Jewish apple cake, cheesecake, Kamish bread and more. Please note that while they are all Passover-friendly, they are not necessarily prepared in Kosher for Passover kitchens. To guarantee availability of your favorite desserts, orders are recommended.

The treats at Homemade Goodies by Roz are just like what you'd expect from your Jewish grandmother. That is, if your Bubbie had her own bakery in Society Hill. Located on the lower end of Germantown Avenue in Chestnut Hill, Night Kitchen has been a Philadelphia favorite for over 30 years. Owner and chef Amy Edelman bought the bakery in 2000 and her husband (and fellow chef) John Millard came on to help her run it after they married in 2002. The baking duo offers a variety of flourless desserts for Passover including truffles, chocolate-dipped apricots and strawberries, as well as coconut and almond macaroons. These treats can be bought individually or as a 50-piece assorted tray. There will also be larger items available such as coconut-crusted tarts, matzah-crusted cheesecake, and the ever-popular flourless cake. This dense and fudgy cake is super decadent and is also offered as cupcakes.

Originally known as Swiss Pastry, Swiss Haus Bakery is currently celebrating its 90-year anniversary in its Center City location. The popular Philadelphia landmark is run by pastry chef Donna Feldman (who was trained by the bakery's original owners) and current owner Josh White. While they have both brought in their personal expertise, many of the traditional recipes have remained untouched over the years. Swiss Haus offers several flour-free pastries year-round, but you'll find an even larger selection during Passover. Choose from items such as flourless chocolate cake, chocolate mousse cups, chocolate bon bons, honey loaf, tarts and macaroons. The plain and fruit-topped cheesecakes are always popular, but it's the Marjolaine that's a standout favorite. The delicious pastry consists of layers of crispy hazelnut meringue, praline and chocolate buttercream and whipped cream, and covered in a chocolate ganache. It's available as an individual pastry but can also be ordered as a cake log to serve eight to 10 people.
