To Waves and Cheers, Phillies Depart For Season Opener in Pittsburgh
By Mike DeNardo
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Phillies are on their way to Pittsburgh for tomorrow's season opener. The team got a big-league sendoff this afternoon as they left Citizens Bank Park.
Guests at a Phillies advertisers' party waved rally towels as the team buses left the ballpark.
Sure, Ryan Howard and Chase Ultey are starting the season on the DL. But Phillies' fan Ron Darrenkamp of Lancaster, Pa. still believes.
"I have confidence in this team," he told KYW Newsradio. "They always pull it out. They have a great attitude. They're a bunch of good guys, and they've been together a while. I think they can do it."
What's his prediction for 2012?
"Oh, I think we'll make it back again to the World Series this year. I'm really thinking we can do it."
Game one on that journey is tomorrow afternoon. The home opener is Monday, April 9th.
