To Some, Love Means Sharing Your Facebook Password

By Hadas Kuznits

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A new survey indicates young people are expressing intimacy by sharing their Facebook passwords with significant others.

A 2011 Pew Internet and American Life Project phone survey is like a question out of a Seinfeld episode. Does love mean sharing everything, including your Facebook password?

"I guess it has to because my girlfriend has mine," one man said. "If your girlfriend wants your password, you have to give it to her or she's gonna assume something, I guess."

According to the survey, 30 percent of teenagers are regularly online shared their password with a friend or romantic partner.

"Only parents should know," one woman responded.

"If you're an adult and you're married, that's one thing."

What if you are an adult and you're married, do you share your email passwords?"

"Sure, I wouldn't hesitate to."

"No, I don't think so.  It's about your boundaries."

And in this age of technology, the social network password is the new ATM code.
