Tires Slashed on Cars of Mayor Nutter's Entourage

Philadelphia police are looking into some vandalism carried out early Monday morning on some very prominent cars -- city cars used by the mayor and the controller.

KYW's Mike Dunn reports from City Hall that according to police, tires were slashed on five cars about 5am Monday.

Four of the cars were parked on the apron of City Hall -- two were city vehicles used as part of Mayor Nutter's police entourage, and the other two were personal cars of police officers who guard the mayor.

The fifth car with slashed tires was the city car assigned to controller Alan Butkovitz, parked nearby at the Municipal Services Building.

This is Nutter's spokesman, Doug Oliver:

"We'll be reviewing cameras, etc., trying to find out a way to find out who did it.  But for the time being there doesn't appear to be any motive other than silliness at this point."

Nutter is on vacation, so the vandalism did not affect his official duties around town.
