PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Tina Dunham, a.k.a. "DJ Diamond Kuts," was the first and so far only female mixer to get her very own slot on Philadelphia radio.
"We were riding in North Philly, on Diamond Street, and I said, 'Yo! Diamond, I like that name,' " So she took it.
She grew up in West Oak Lane with her mom and DJ dad, but says she sharpened her skills in the parks of West Philadelphia.
Since then, she's toured with artists like Nikki Minaj and Chris Brown, and says Philadelphia taught her to bring her "A" game to every show.
"We have to be on point, 24/7," she says. "We have to be on top of our game. We've got to be over and beyond, and I got that from being in the city."
She says no matter where her career takes her, she will always live in Philadelphia:
"I just love my city so much. I love the culture, I love the people, and I love the way that the people love me. I will always live here -- this is just where I'll be."
DJ Diamond Kuts can be heard on Philly's Power 99, is a host on BET's "The Deal," and is one the "Dove DJs" in the Dove Go Fresh campaign, in partnership with MTV.
