Tickets Go On Sale Today For Real Madrid vs. Union Friendly
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It's a big day for soccer fans, as tickets go on sale today for the July 23rd matchup between international power Real Madrid and the Philadelphia Union at Lincoln Financial Field.
Chris Branscome, CEO of Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer, says this matchup helps build the area's growing reputation as a soccer hot bed.
"It's been tremendously exciting over the last few years, with Manchester United (who played another high-profile friendly against the Union last summer), we had the USA-Turkey game, and of course with the Union and the (Women's Professional Soccer team) Philadelphia Independence," he said. "It's just been a real boom time for soccer in the Delaware Valley."
The Real Madrid-Union match-up will mark the Linc's 10th international soccer match since opening in 2003, when Manchester United played FC Barcelona in Lincoln Financial Field's first ticketed event.
