Tickets For U.S. Open Still Available, But At A Premium

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) - So you woke up this morning and decided you wanted to see the U.S. Open this week at Merion Golf Club, but you don't have tickets. What are your options?
The tickets from the U.S. Golf Association have been sold out for quite some time, but there are still opportunities. There are tickets available on the secondary market, but they come at a premium.
Jim Bell, owner of Sherry's Tickettown in Wilmington says, "There's actually tickets available for every day, but like anything else tickets are available at a price. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are cheaper than Thursday and Thursday is cheaper than Friday. It's just dominoes through the weekend."
Bell says the interest in this year's tournament is like nothing he's ever experienced before with the U.S. Open.
"We've sold U.S. Open tickets for the last six to eight years around the country and usually on a Tuesday Wednesday -- the practice rounds -- you have trouble almost giving them away and this year you can't even hold onto them."
He says he always recommends the practice rounds because the tickets are cheaper. General admission for Tuesday and Wednesday are about $150 and up. In a generous mood and want to treat Dad to the final round Sunday? That's a whole different story.
