'Tickets For The Troops' Aims To Help Service People Attend Philadelphia's Army/Navy Game
By John McDevitt
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- In an effort to show appreciation for active military personnel, the public is being asked to buy tickets for troops who want to attend next month's Army/Navy game in South Philadelphia.
It's being called "Tickets for the Troops," and it's being launched by The Philadelphia Sports Congress and Liberty USO.
"The USO is seeking companies and or individuals to buy standing room only tickets so that are enlisted men and women in the Army and Navy can attend the game for free," explains Joe Brooks, the president of the USO of South Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Standing room only tickets are being sought, because that's all that is left for the sold out game.
But if you have a ticket for a seat and want to donate that, Brooks says you can contact Liberty USO.
"The USO would be glad to take it so we could turn it over to someone who needs it," he says.
