Tickets For 9-11 Memorial Available Starting Today

NEW YORK, NY (CBS) - It's two months until the nation observes the tenth anniversary of the 9-11 terrorist attacks, with a ceremony officially opening a memorial at the site of the World Trade Center. But free tickets to the memorial become available online today.

The World Trade Center site has been an object of fascination since the 2001 attacks and this September 11th, it will re-open to the public for the first time in ten years. Millions of people are expected to visit, but the site can only accommodate about 15-hundred a day, so the non-profit foundation that built the memorial is giving out timed tickets. They are free, but you must reserve them in advance and you can do that starting at 9 a.m. today.

To make a reservation, go to 911memorial.org. There's a "Plan Your Visit" link where, if all goes according to schedule, you can reserve your space for any day, starting September 12th.

Eventually, the site will include a museum but that's not expected to open until 2012.
