Throughout Delaware Valley, 'Essential Personnel' Answer The Call

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Hurricane Sandy has begun blowing through Philadelphia. And while many people are hunkered down at home, those who are "essential personnel" have to be at work.
With the rain falling and the wind howling, Steve Brooks held his post as an emergency room nurse at Jefferson's Methodist Hospital.
"As a health care professional, we have to be there," he told KYW Newsradio this morning. "We have to get there some way or another."
Methodist Hospital security officer Mark Burris realized that with a hurricane coming in, he may not be able to get out.
"I might not be able to leave. I might have to stay here and just bunker down here until it blows over," he said.
With no mass transit, one cab driver we talked with said he has spent most of his time on the road taking just doctors and nurses to work.
