Toddler Dies After Falling From Third Floor Window In Frankford
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Philadelphia police say a 3-year-old boy has died after falling from the third-story window of an apartment building in the city's Frankford section.
It happened around 6 p.m. Sunday in the 1600 block of Foulkrod Street.
Police say the boy fell 30-feet from a third floor window in the rear of the apartment and landed on the concrete in the alley.
Medics found the boy unconscious, suffering from head trauma and broken ribs.
He was rushed to St. Christopher's Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
"There were two adult family members home at the time," said Chief Inspector Scott Small. "They didn't see the child fall. They heard the noise, and that's when they realized that the boy had fallen."
Police say the boy was in a room playing with two other children before falling.
The incident was being investigated by Special Victims Unit, which later turned the case over to homicide detectives. Police say there's no initial indication of foul play.
