Two Hospitalized After Accident Closes A Portion Of Route 1 Sunday

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A wrong way crash on the Route 1 Roosevelt Extension closed the northbound roadway for several hours and sent two people to the hospital.
Two men were injured when a southbound SUV traveling in the northbound lanes of the Roosevelt Extension first struck a car and then hit a wall near the Broad Street off ramp around 5 a.m. Sunday.
Both victims, in their 40s, are under evaluation and treatment for non-life threatening injuries at Temple University hospital.
Police closed the northbound lanes near the accident scene for several hours. There was no word from police why or how the driver wound up going the wrong direction on the wrong side of the roadway.
The investigation is ongoing.
