3 Charged With Stealing From Grieving Relatives At Cemeteries In Bucks And Montco

BENSALEM, Pa. (CBS) -- Three people are under arrest in Bucks County accused of preying on people who were visiting the graves of loved ones at cemeteries throughout the Philadelphia suburbs.
Bensalem Police say the crimes happened at 10 cemeteries in Bucks County and five in Montgomery County, between February and April of this year.
Police used surveillance footage of the suspects using stolen credit cards to track down and arrest Pamela Hummel of Morrisville, Pa.; Nathan Phillips of Bristol, Pa.; and Jose Leon, who has no fixed address.
Bensalem Police Sergeant Andy Aninsman says the thieves targeted women, stealing purses from their cars while they were visiting gravesites.
"I think it's absolutely horrible that they'll prey on victims who are already grieving over their loved ones, visiting cemeteries," Aninsman tells KYW Newsradio.
Police say the crooks pulled off thefts in Cheltenham, Lower Moreland, and Horsham in Montgomery County, and Bensalem, Middletown, and Lower Southampton in Bucks County.
Aninsman says they made off with about $5,000 in cash and then rang up another $5,000 on the stolen credit cards.
