Thousands To Attend Philadelphia's National College Fair On Sunday

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Ten-thousand people are expected to attend one of the largest college fairs in the country on Sunday at the Pennsylvania Convention Center from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

More than 400 colleges and universities will be represented at the National College Fair. Students are asked to register prior to going so they can receive a time-saving barcode.

"And if they bring that barcode to fair with them, the college reps can just scan their barcode and that information can be automatically received," says Katie Gerst, an assistant professor at the Fox School of Business at Temple University.

Gerst volunteers for the local arrangements committee for the annual college fair, and she says there are workshops, too.

"We always do a couple of sessions on financial aid, which we are doing again, which is always helpful for the students. We also have a wonderful panel of some admission representatives from some of the more selective schools--Ivy Leagues and other private schools--on what some of the differences are in applying to those."
