By Brad Segall
SOUTHAMPTON, Pa. (CBS) - Thousands of people lined 2nd Street Pike in Southampton, Bucks County to watch one of the biggest 4th of July parades in the suburbs.
This parade has been going on for more than four decades. On Wednesday, it was a sea of red, white and blue as the community came out to celebrate America's birthday.
The parade attracted several generations of families with many grandparents and parents bringing their children to start a new tradition.
"We think about all the sacrifices that our forefathers gave up for the country and we come to the parade and just think about how lucky we are to be Americans," Megan Benzio, from Churchville Pa., said.
The parade featured a number of cartoon characters like Spiderman and Elmo for the kids to enjoy, as well as some marching bands, military vehicles and plenty of music.
Of course, there was also the local politicians who take advantage of the thousands of people along the parade route to get some face time in an election year.
