This Passover, Gershman Y Plans An 'Arts & Culture' Seder
By Steve Tawa
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- In advance of the ancient Jewish holiday of Passover, the Gershman Y in center city is organizing a Philadelphia seder, and planning to present it in a contemporary way.
The event is an arts-and-culture take on the themes of Passover, according to Warren Hoffman (below right) of the Gershman Y.
"We have dancers, musicians, and poets to interpret the meaning and different rituals of Passover in new and unique ways," he explains.
The headliner is the "Prince of Kosher Gospel," Joshua Nelson and his Band. Philadelphia-based folk singer Chana Rothman also performs, and the group "Bible Raps" takes Hebrew School classes to a new, more contemporary level.
The seder includes a feast of food in the traditional four courses.
The event is March 25th, 6-9pm, at the WHYY studios at 6th and Arch Streets. Advance tickets are $75.
