Thieves Steal Animal Rescue Donation Jars In Haddonfield
HADDONFIELD, NJ (CBS) - Police in Camden County are searching for suspects who stole three donation jars that were intended for an animal rescue group.
In one of the robberies on March 17th, a suspect was captured on surveillance video stealing a donation jar when an employee at Jamaican Me Crazy in Haddonfield turned their back.
Two other cans in Haddonfield were discovered missing this week when volunteers went to collect the change in the cans.
The two others thefts happened at The Bistro and Harrison's, both on Kings Highway in Haddonfield.
Officials said approximately $250 was inside the stolen jars. The proceeds from the jars were destined for the "Furrever Friends" rescue group based in Woodbury, New Jersey.
Furrever Friends is a non-profit, all-volunteer animal rescue group that helps unwanted pets find homes. The money is used to pay for medical care for abandoned pets. The organization survives on the kindness of donations from the public as they do not receive government funding.
"We have over 60 cats that need homes, and are receiving dozens of requests each day to help more," explains Furrever Friends Vice President Suzanne Pomeroy. "After losing about $250 from those stolen cans, now there is less money to help those who need us."
