Thief Beaten With Skillet by Store Employees
Police in Bristol Township, Pa. (Bucks County) are looking for a man who held up the Subway store in the 4000 block of Route 413 in Levittown.
KYW's Kim Glovas reports that sergeant Chuck Barnes says the suspect entered the Subway just after 6:30 on Sunday evening and acted like he was going to buy some chips. When the clerk opened the register for change, the suspect claimed he had a gun, and started grabbing money out of the register. Barnes says at that point, another employee came up and started fighting the man.
"Suspect ran behind the counter, again tried to get money out of the register. While he was doing that, both employees who were inside again engaged him in a physical altercation, at which point, the suspect was hit over the head numerous times with what we believe to be a skillet."
Then the suspect fled on foot:
"We tracked him with two separate canines from Bristol Boro and Bensalem Township, and we tracked for quite a distance until we finally lost the scent in Racket Club Apartments which is in Middletown Township."
Barnes says the suspect suffered a significant head injury and was bleeding, but the thief still got away with $236.
