Theater Company Explores Life Inside Philadelphia Homes
By Pat Loeb
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - How would you like to put on a show, about your life, in your own home, with the help of a professional theater group? That's the offer Philadelphia's Headlong Dance Theater is making.
Headlong is looking for four geographically and demographically diverse Philadelphia households to host their high-concept project called, "This town is a mystery."
Co-director Andrew Simonet says it was inspired simply by driving through the city, wondering about the lives behind the doors in each neighborhood.
"Every time I get the chance to go inside someone's home in Philadelphia that I don't know, it's like a new world opens." Simonet says the group is also interested in working with non-theater-professionals.
"We're not looking for special people or fancy people, we're looking for Philadelphians who get excited when they hear about this idea."
The households will work with Headlong on a 20-minute piece exploring life inside their homes. The piece will be performed for an audience, in the home, during the Live Arts festival in September. You can apply at http://thistownisamystery.com/2011/apply-to-participate/
