The Women's Tournament
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Looking at the local possibilities for the woman's tournament, the discussion begins and ends with Temple. The Owls are one of the Atlantic 10's elites and putting together a fine season with three 1,000 point scorers. However, the A-10 doesn't seem to get a ton of respect nationally and if the Owls don't get the conference's automatic birth, it could be white knuckle time on selection night. But it would really be a stunner if they don't get in. Past that, St. Joe's and Drexel are having solid seasons, but both need to win their conference tournaments to get in. La Salle is rebuilding, playing better as of late but they are still a couple years away. Penn has made incredible strides under second year coach Mike McLaughlin, but they are still at least a year away from winning an Ivy title. Villanova has been awful in the Big East, not winning a conference game as of this writing.
While their wont be a ton of local representation in this year's women's tournament, there will be some local games.
Philadelphia will host regional semifinal and final games on March 27th and 29th at the Liacouras Center. You can buy tickets for those games here: http://www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-women/2010-12-19/ticket-information.
The women's Final Four is in Indianapolis this year.
