By John McDevitt
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Historic Philadelphia brings back two popular tours where you get a taste of history.
The Tippler's Tour is a two hour weekly colonial pub crawl. It takes place throughout Old City on Thursday nights. Major Samuel Nicholas played by Doug Thomas leads it; pointing out the importance of the 18th Century tavern.
"If you have an idea like taxation without representation, non importation, independence, constitution these didn't start in government buildings. They started with a bunch of fellas sitting around bending their elbows with a pint; as the beer was flowing, so were the though of liberty and ideas."
And guests get to sample brews along the way. Also Independence After Hours tours are back. It starts with dinner at City Tavern with colonial interpreters then an exclusive visit to Independence Hall where history makers like Thomas Jefferson interact with the crowd.
