The Storm Formerly Known As Sandy

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The storm formerly known as Sandy brought the worst it could to the area. The predicted devastation from this deadly storm unfortunately panned out.
Sandy made landfall near Atlantic City around the time of high tide on Monday night. Storm surge flooded streets throughout the shore and brought down trees. Even more damage will be revealed during the daylight.
Power outages are expected to affect millions across the Northeast with a slow return to electricity. Crews will be hampered by continuing gusty winds Tuesday, but as the winds subside, the work can begin.
Expect improvement from all this as Sandy moves north. Gusty winds subside later Tuesday afternoon and should be further reduced on Wednesday, Halloween. The scariest thing about that day will be what came before it.
