The Stars React To The Death Of Joan Rivers
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Legendary comic and television host Joan Rivers passed away Thursday afternoon at the age of 81.
Rivers had stopped breathing and went into cardiac arrest on August 28 while undergoing a vocal cord procedure in New York. She was later placed in a medically induced coma and was on life support.
David Letterman released the following statement on the passing of legendary comedienne Joan Rivers:
"Here's a woman, a real pioneer for other women looking for careers in stand-up comedy," said Letterman. "And talk about guts – she would come out here and sit in this chair and say some things that were unbelievable, just where you would have to swallow pretty hard… but it was hilarious… the force of her comedy was overpowering."
South Jersey native Kelly Ripa took to Twitter to react to the loss, along with many other celebrities:
NOOOOOOOO.......... RIP Joan. You will be forever missed.
