The St. Patrick's Day Party Has Started In Center City
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Many are already celebrating Saint Patrick's Day at area waterholes this weekend. The day started early for hundreds at a benefit run along the Schuylkill River, and then to an after-run gathering in Old City.
Participants in the 26th Annual Leprechaun Run who were trying to raise a pot of gold for Special Olympics Pennsylvania made their way to Paddy's Old City Pub. Among the runners were Betsy and Doug, who scored seats at the bar.
Betsy: "We did pretty well. We did under 40 minutes."
Doug: "She ran fast, was dragging me along."
Betsy: "He did a good job."
McDevitt: I mean you had to get here, was that your motivating factor?
Betsy: "Yes, we ran as fast as we could so we could get bar seats."
Pub co-owner Jack Taylor:
"We are a sponsor of the Leprechaun Run, so we jumped in when we bought the bar so no one had a place to go after the race, so it was a nice fit."
